Creative Bio

Tanya Machnick received a BS degree in Biology from UCLA in 1993, a DDS degree from UCSF in 1999, and a MS degree in Endodontics from Loma Linda University in 2003. She practiced as an Endodontist, a root canal specialist, in Santa Cruz, California from 2003 until 2016. At that time she left her practice due to a vision disability from working extended hours under a surgical microscope and she returned to her interest in art. She had always been interested in artist expression. She was a trained dancer and she participated in performances from age five to eighteen. She played the violin all the way through college and played in the UCLA symphony. She was interested in fashion and she designed and made clothes and jewelry.  As a youth in high school she co-owned a tie-dye company where she designed and sold hand-died fashion art to individuals and stores.

All of these artistic expressions took a back seat while she pursued her scientific career. But, now she has had the opportunity to re-kindle her love for art. She is an Intentional Creativity Teacher in the Color of Woman Method developed by Shiloh Sophia which allows her to use to tool of intention creativity to bring art and full self-expression to herself and all those that cross her path.

Artist’s Statement

I am a Libra. I am attracted to beautiful things. I love my senses being delighted and I love color. My external and internal worlds are filled with color. Color is a vibration and I believe it is a form of communication. What does magenta say to you? We ourselves are also just a vibration, albeit it a slow vibration, because we exist in a solid form, but none the less a vibration. The frequency of the vibration that we are fluctuates with our thoughts and emotions.  Creating art and using color has the ability to shift the frequency of our vibration. When we are fully self-expressed during the act of creation, we are fully engaged at the mental, emotional, physical, relational and spiritual levels. This level of participation gives us the opportunity to be aware of the interconnectedness of everything. We begin to realize that everything is energy, just different expressions of that energy.

Creating art and involving others to create with me is done in the same manner that I do everything. Wanna play??? I am very enrolling when it comes to self-expression. One of my gifts is creating an environment that allows others to feel safe and accepted which gives them permission to be totally self-expressed without feeling foolish or embarrassed. I live from a way of being where I have banished the Judge, the Critic and the Victim. This creates an enormous amount of freedom and opens the doors to possibility.
